IBGC holds its 13th International Conference on Corporate Governance
Deepening the Discussion about Boards

The Brazilian Institute for Corporate Governance (IBGC) will hold the 13th edition of its International Conference on Corporate Governance in São Paulo, on October 22 and 23. The main event of its segment in Latin America, the conference will address the tasks of boards of directors and their advisory committees, fiscal councils, and family boards.

The debate will be an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities of governance-assisting bodies, as well as the evaluation, compensation and challenges facing their members, since their performance and strategic role in an organization's higher performance are increasingly under the spotlight. The various forms of ownership, such as co-operatives, plus boards of nonprofits and soccer teams, will also be highlighted with special presentations and debates.

Participants will include Brazilian and international professionals split into ten sessions, three of which held concurrently. Speakers already confirmed include Ana Novaes, Helle Klem, Simon Walker, and Teresa Grossi. Robert A. G. Monks, pioneering activist in corporate governance will speak at the closing ceremony.

Founded on November 27, 1995, IBGC - Brazilian Institute for Corporate Governance – is the main reference in Brazil for the development of the best practices in corporate governance.

With over 1,900 members, IBGC promotes talks, academic forums, debates, conferences, training, and networking among professionals, in addition to preparing publications and research work. Also in 2012, the Institute is helping the World Bank with information on the corporate governance framework in Brazil to update the Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC).
